NAMI’s PATHETIC APOLOGETIC ADDRESS WHILE SUMMARY EXECUTIONS CONTINUE by Andrew Zito As an article distributed worldwide including a verbatim "PRESS RELEASE" quote from "Statement of Michael J. Fitzpatrick, Executive Director, National Alliance on Mental Illness" NAMI once again apologetically showed its ill place support for the status quo in America by taking a stand against the psychiatric patient victims. Patronizingly from the safe confines of his offices “Michael J. Fitzpatrick”, as the “Executive Director, National Alliance on Mental Illness” made his statement as a paid lobbyist as part of an organization that receives funding and support from the pharmaceutical industry. In response to what irresponsibly “Michael J. Fitzpatrick”, as Executive Director, acted in his official capacity for NAMI that perhaps complies with some vague standard of form rather substance in stating: “NAMI calls upon the Federal Air Marshal Service and all other law enforcement agencies to take a close look at its training and education protocols and, if currently lacking, adopt measures to prepare officers to respond effectively to people with severe mental illness.” We must ask as to how should that be accomplished when NAMI takes ever opportunity to docilely accept what is a rotten corrupt and systemic problem and refrain from direct and affirmative action, that evidently will not be paid for by NAMI and its paid directors but instead will be psychiatric victims, their families, the community, and taxpayers robbed by the medical industry, pharmaceutical industry, and government who benefit from funding much more than the victims themselves even to ratio over 20 to 1? A training film produced long ago in 1960 (of a different time and political climate), with the cooperation of the Police Department of New Orleans called “Booked for Safekeeping” exemplifies the extreme radical difference between how Psychiatric victims were considered then as opposed to now that we suggest people watch. (see above) ACTIVISTS CAN LEARN FROM AIDS ACTIVISTS AND CRISIS The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, previously the “National Alliance on Mental Illness”, has not merely compromised its views and positions for the sake of aggrandizing its funding opportunities is ill guided and corrupted. NAMI has distanced itself from the “Mentally Ill”, first opportunistically purporting itself as an “Alliance” (sic) when it is hardly so, second as “for the Mentally Ill”, third “on the Mentally Ill” (what ever that means in what merely appears to be an effort to package itself rather than being of substance. NAMI in an attempt to clean up its image to attract greater funding like any other corrupt Washington based lobbying effort, NAMI largely funded by the pharmaceutical industry, when its members activities are nominal adjuncts to the profession class running NAMI. NAMI members can learn something from the AIDS movement that can easily be compared with the AIDS movement and AIDS professionals (parasites) before GAY activists challenged the corrupt and lethal industry based activities that lead to the suffering and deaths of millions. We condemn in no uncertain terms the actions of the Federal Air Marshall who shot Rigoberto Alpizar, and the immediate action of the US Federal AIR MARSHALL to act as it did. As we think the federal marshals were inappropriate we feel they murdered Rigoberto Alpizar, just as in passengers assaulted and killed passengers aboard airliners perhaps we should move to outlaw the use of commercial airlines but we don’t which would be more appropriate. In what exemplifies society’s treatment of psychiatric victims, patients, who are commonly referred to “mental ill”, we must remind some that the psychiatric profession, and industry doesn’t seek a cure (as in Cancer, AIDS, Small Pox) of “mental illness”. As in actuality no such thing as “mental illness” but merely what some call “mental illness” the psychiatric industry (and professionals) seek instead to manage the alleged “mentally ill” (with much more lucrative profits) as also are the Diabetic, and the overweight, while professions make obscene profits for their industry who have BLEED the nation just as any other has in what is tantamount to criminal enterprise in facts they make more than criminals. NAMI in quoting“The U.S. Surgeon General” in having “reported that: ‘The overall contribution of mental disorders to the total level of violence in society is exceptionally small.’ Acts of violence are exceptional. When they do occur, it is a sign that something has gone terribly wrong” (.NAMI Releases Statement About Man With Bipolar Disorder Killed in Miami Airport; Need for Crisis Intervention Training Thursday December 8, 2:36 pm ET, WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire). NAMI assumes a quasi-governmental position, when the government and psychiatric Industry are amply represented vocally in society with all the benefits and trappings and power, while their psychiatric victims suffer the post traumatic stress syndrome as the results of such proclivities as which are sanctioned by society, without the victims being afforded even the most basic of legal representations of counsel and civil liberties. I do not have to remind New Yorkers of the execution style murder of Eleanor Bumpers, nor have to re-publicize the institutionalization of Ezra Pound in Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington DC after WWII. The murder of Rigoberto Alpizar by the federal Air marshals in Miami was wholly consistent with the history of the ill treatment afforded psychiatric victims in the US. AA US that affords its police, and professional classes the latest in protective gear and gadgets, while psychiatric victims and the poor in particular wait for the day to come where they will afforded the most basic legal rights which are afforded common criminals. I an still waiting to be compensated for the assault on my person when I was assaulted by a nurse and two security guards (who had worked for the city of New York on the staff of Elmhurst General Hospital) who force medicated me when I had a right to refuse such medications, during which one of the guards said “he was from the ghetto and [he’d] snuff out [my] life for a dime. IN CONCLUSION NAMI stated “Police officers have been forced to become front line respondents to people with severe mental illness in crisis throughout the country. Too often, confrontations between the police and people with mental illnesses result in tragedies because police lack the knowledge and experience to respond appropriately to people in psychiatric crisis.”, but self-servingly in some form of amnesia forget that these incidents as not the exceptions but the consistent systemic institutionalized problems that must be head on attacked as did ACT UP and other AIDS activists. |
